Bali is expected to secure 40% of the 15 million foreign tourists visitors expected to visit Indonesia in 2017, according to the State News Agency Antara. This was based on the fact that Bali remains Indonesia’s top tourism getaway, allocating a sizeable 6 million share from the national target.
A Tourism Ministry spokesman said, "Bali is still number one compared to the other regions in Indonesia." 30% of all foreign tourist arrivals are projected to enter through Jakarta and 20% from Batam.
To achieve this year’s targets, the Ministry of Tourism is developing “new” tourism destination in North Sumatra, Bangka-Belitung, the Thousand Islands, Banten, Lombok, East Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Sulawesi and North Maluku.
The Government is designating Mainland Chinese tourists to become the lead source of foreign visitors to Indonesia.
